Liverpool transfer round-up: Dominik Szoboszlai arrives as Napoli eye Reds defender

Liverpool are not slowing down as they prepare to strengthen ahead of the new season.

Jurgen Klopp made an early addition to his squad in the form of Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai looks like being the next man to join. It is an acknowledgement from Klopp that new bodies are needed in midfield after a number of high-profile departures.

With more than a month to go until the start of the 2023-24 campaign, we're braced for more comings and goings as Klopp's men get ready for Europa League football. Here are the latest transfer lines from Anfield this summer.

Szoboszlai flies in

Dominik Szoboszlai has been spotted flying in ahead of his £60m move to Liverpool. The RB Leipzig star is expected to complete a move to Anfield after the Reds met his release clause.

Footage has been shared on social media purporting to show the Hungarian arriving. A person can be seen stepping off a plane and walking towards a car parked nearby.

Szoboszlai was linked with a Premier League move back in January 2021, but opted to instead join Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg. He scored 10 goals in 46 appearances last season, having previously been part of the Hungary team which beat England 4-0 in the UEFA Nations League.

Klopp's Sancho stance

With Jadon Sancho put up for sale by Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp's past comments about the winger have come back into focus. Liverpool were linked with the England international when he still played for Klopp's former club Borussia Dortmund, but it was United who sealed a signing in 2021.

"I don't think such a transfer will be possible this season," Klopp admitted. He showed himself to be a fan of the youngster, though, saying "The red shirt [of Liverpool] would suit [him] very well."

Sancho is one of a number of United players potentially available this summer as United look to refresh their squad. It has been suggested that they will accept £45m for a man who cost more than £70m just two years ago.

Napoli want Konate

Ibrahima Konate has emerged as one of Napoli's defensive targets as they look to replace Kim Min-jae. Kim, who only arrived himself last summer, will spend next season at Bayern Munich.

According to Corriere Dello Sport (via Football Italia), Konate is one of an options being considered by the Serie A champions. Other names mentioned in the Italian media include Robin Koch, Max Kilman and Robin Le Normand.

Konate, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, struggled with injury at times last season. The French international played 18 Premier League games last term and also played several times for his country as they reached the World Cup final.
