Liverpool transfer round-up: Christian Pulisic move eyed as Raphinha could make Reds move

A statement win over Arsenal has reignited Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge, with Jurgen Klopp’s side dominant at Anfield.

Though there are still 11 games to go until the January transfer window opens, attention is starting to turn towards potential targets as the Reds look to strengthen Klopp’s squad.

Several areas of Klopp’s team will require reinforcements in the winter market, with a barrage of injuries hitting the Reds.

The main area that they will likely seek to boost is in attack, with Liverpool currently light on options beyond Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news with the clock ticking down until the window opens…

Who should be Liverpool's top target in the January transfer window? Comment below.

Reds eye Pulisic deal

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a shock move for Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic, who is thought to be growing frustrated with his bit-part role at Stamford Bridge.

A bout of Covid-19 as well as an ankle injury has seen the American slip down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.

He has started just one game in the Premier League this season, though did score from the bench against Leicester on Saturday.

But the lack of opportunities is beginning to frustrate Pulisic, who is keen for more game time ahead of next year’s World Cup.

According to the Daily Star, that is a situation that is drawing Liverpool’s interest, with the Reds set to be in the market for a winger.

The long-term futures of Salah and Mane are undecided, with 23-year-old Pulisic rising up the Reds’ shortlist of targets, despite the clear obstacles that would make such a transfer difficult.

Arsenal move ahead in Isak race

Arsenal have reportedly moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

Isak has attracted the Reds’ attention after scoring 22 goals in the last two seasons for the Spanish side.

That number includes three goals in La Liga this campaign, which has helped to fire Sociedad to the top of the table.

But Arsenal are also seriously interested in bringing him to the Premier League as they look to find a long-term solution at striker.

Isak appears to be the man they want to fill that role, with Fichajes reporting the Gunners have made the Swedish international their ‘top priority’.

That designation will likely have moved the Gunners ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign the 22-year-old, with striker not a priority for Klopp and the Reds.

Raphinha tipped for Liverpool move

Reds target Raphinha has been tipped to depart Leeds United and move to Anfield if Liverpool decide to shore up their interest.

Raphinha has starred for the Whites since joining ahead of their first campaign back in the Premier League and has already scored five goals this season.

Liverpool are likely to be in the market for a winger in January and former Rangers boss Alex McLeish believes Raphinha could be the man they target.

“Liverpool are historically bigger and you would expect Raphinha’s head to be turned if they do come asking about,” McLeish told Football Insider.

“I feel players will want to go to that bigger club. They don’t come much bigger than Liverpool these days.

“Raphinha has got huge talent, only 24. At the same time, you maybe don’t see him playing regularly every single week (at Liverpool). That’s something the individual has to assess.”
