Unless a suitor for Lazar Markovic unexpectedly emerges in the next two weeks, it is likely Liverpool will next make use of the transfer market in the summer.
At that point, Markovic is set to be joined by Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge in departing on a free transfer, with Jurgen Klopp unlikely to sanction the offer of a new contract.
Adam Lallana and Joel Matip could well be made available for sale as a result of their fitness issues, while Divock Origi and Simon Mignolet are sure to leave in search of regular first-team football.
In terms of incomings, Klopp remains keen to bring in a No10 following last summer's failure to land Nabil Fekir from Lyon, while a centre-forward - possibly Timo Werner of RB Leipzig - is certain to be required should Origi and Sturridge follow Dominic Solanke out of the door.
