Liverpool transfer news: Serie A star claims he'd play for Reds over any other club

Domenico Berardi has told Liverpool that they are the only football club he would choose to play for.

Sassuolo star Berardi admitted it is "dream" to play for the Reds, with the Italy international harbouring a desire to play in either the Champions League or Europa League.

The Reds have previously been linked with the winger in January 2017, when they were said to have entered a three-way battle with Inter Milan and Juventus .

Berardi had a productive season for Sassuolo making five assists and scoring nine times across Serie A and Coppa Italia - helping his side to 10th place with a game to spare.

He has spent his whole career at the Italian side, having come through the academy, and has made 211 Serie A appearances since his debut in 2012.

Berardi told Gazzetta dello Sport : "If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club.

"And if I hear that it is the right proposal, to be taken on the fly, this time I will say to Sassuolo: 'I'll take it'.

"Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool .

"Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it.

"The next goal is to play in Europe, but at a club where I can be used a lot, if not always. That is my priority."

Berardi, who is a top target for AC Milan this summer, has previously revealed he wants to move this summer.

When does the summer transfer window open and close? Premier League and EFL rules explained

“I wasn’t ready then, so that is why I decided to remain and I don’t think I wasted that time,” Berardi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now I feel at ease with myself, especially as I am more of a complete player and I’m no longer such a hothead.

“My first career objective was to complete the maturation process and I feel that I’ve done that with Sassuolo. I find it difficult to change, but it no longer frightens me. I would do it.

“The next objective is to play in Europe, but it’d have to be at a club where I know I’d be used regularly, if not all the time. That is my priority.”
