Liverpool transfer news round-up: Wijnaldum contract details as Pedri move unlikely

Liverpool are set for a busy summer transfer window, with the Reds eager to reinforce their squad in order to go after the Premier League title.

The champions have seen their defence of the title capitulate due to injuries, with Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards forced to dip into the January window in order to plug the gaps.

But for the summer, they're likely to continue planning for the long-term, while they are still expected to go after a new defender and potentially a midfielder.

Georginio Wijnaldum could leave on a free, and Liverpool will likely move quickly to secure a replacement.

Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.

Pedri to sign new deal

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been offered a new contract in order to stave off interest from Liverpool.

The 18-year-old is under contract until 2022, and Liverpool chiefs have already approached his representatives.

However, Barca have decided to offer him a bumper new deal in order to keep him at the Nou Camp long term.

Wijnaldum offer details

Liverpool are eager to keep hold of Wijnaldum, who is out of contract in the summer.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, their most recent contract offer didn't include a pay increase from his current deal.

Barcelona are still lurking, as are Inter Milan, and it seems the Dutchman is set to walk out of Anfield for nothing.

Barcelona squad's Wijnaldum stance

Despite Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman being eager to sign Wijnaldum, the playing squad at the Nou Camp isn't so keen.

A report from Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona players would rather sign Neymar than Wijnaldum, despite the Dutchman being available on a free.

Neymar seems unlikely to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with the Brazilian set to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
