Liverpool are looking to snap up a 17-year-old Dutch star - currently on trial at Chelsea .
Xavier Mbuyamba has been working at the Blues’ Cobham training base, with staff running the rule over the young centre-back.
Mbuyamba has made his breakthrough at club side MVV Maastricht in his homeland this season, in Holland’s second tier.
The 6ft 2in defender made 11 appearances for his club after making his first appearance as a 16-year-old last November.
But he has yet to sign professional terms and according to his representatives, grew frustrated at the club’s failure to offer a deal.

According to Carlos Barros of Prestige Sports, speaking to Voetbal International: "He will be training with different teams in the coming days to see where he should enter in terms of level.
"That can be the Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 or Under-23. Chelsea has already indicated that he would like to put him in.”
However, as Chelsea face up to a potential transfer ban, a number of others are ready to take advantage and make their own move - with Liverpool leading the chase.
The Reds are claimed to have a keen interest in Mbuyamba, with Celtic, Porto and Bayern also reportedly keeping tabs.
"There are several very nice options for him,” added Barrios. "We will now look at the best option and hope to have clarity soon."
