Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp categorically rules out Erling Haaland move

Jurgen Klopp has ruled Liverpool out of the running to sign Erling Haaland this summer.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is one of the game’s hottest properties and is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga side at the end of the season amid frequent links with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Previously, Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the player, who helped enhance his reputation on the world stage by scoring for Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield in a thrilling 4-3 Liverpool win in the Champions League back in 2019.

While the six-times champions of Europe are undoubtedly one of the world’s leading clubs, Liverpool simply do not have the same kind of resource City, Paris Saint-Germain and potentially Madrid boast, with Klopp noted for developing players rather than buying ready-made superstars.

With any potential Haaland deal likely setting any suitor back hundreds of millions when all things are considered, Klopp distanced Liverpool from a move.

“No chance! We won’t be going there,” he told Reuters via BILD.

“The numbers involved are just crazy – we’ll be having nothing to do with it.

“To be honest, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s not fun”.
