Liverpool transfer approach over Harry Wilson will become clearer after Derby County discover Premier League fate

Harry Wilson steps out at Wembley this afternoon for an occasion that will have long-term ramifications regarding his Liverpool future.

Wilson is expected to be in the starting line-up for Derby County in their Championship play-off final against Aston Villa.

It will be the final appearance for the 22-year-old of an impressive season-long loan spell with the Rams.

Wilson is Derby's top scorer with 18 goals in 48 games while contributing six assists, and netted a penalty and laid on a goal in the dramatic 4-2 win at Leeds United earlier this month that booked Derby's place at Wembley.

Speaking over the weekend, Wilson indicated he would welcome the opportunity of another season with Frank Lampard's side.

That, though, is almost certain to depend on whether Derby win promotion to the Premier League.

Liverpool would consider allowing Wilson out on another loan to further his development, but only to a team in the top flight.

And should Derby fail to beat Aston Villa, it would also increase the possibility of the Wales international departing on a permanent basis, with Liverpool valuing the player at around £25million.

Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers are among clubs monitoring Wilson's situation, although Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out taking a closer look at the player during pre-season.
