Liverpool training: 5 things we noticed ahead of crunch Tottenham clash

Liverpool will return from the international break with a huge fixture on Sunday (4.30).

The Reds host Tottenham at Anfield knowing they could be back down to second in the Premier League by the time the game kicks off if Manchester City beat Fulham in Saturday's early game.

The title race is hotting up and Jurgen Klopp's side can ill-afford any slip-ups, but they know a stern task is on the horizon against Spurs.

Klopp's players were put through their paces at Melwood on Friday as they prepare for a massive game in both the title race and the battle for the top four.

Here's five things we noticed from Liverpool's training session ahead of the game.

1) Gomez back

Defender Joe Gomez is nearing his return to action.

The youngster has been sidelined since suffering a fractured leg against Burnley back in December.

But he's set to be back in action over the coming weeks to boost the Reds in their mouth-watering Premier League and Champions League double quest.

It remains to be seen whether he will feature this weekend, but he was seen back in full training on Friday in a welcome sight for Liverpool fans.

2) No distractions for Mane

There appear to be no distractions for Sadio Mane despite recent transfer talk.

The Senegal striker has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane reportedly identified him as a top summer target.

Yet it's business as usual for the in-form forward, who has scored 11 goals since the turn of the year.

He's set to play a massive role in the title race and is fully focused on Sunday's huge clash with Tottenham at Anfield.

3) Tackles flying in

Liverpool have some huge fixtures up - but that doesn't mean the players are taking it easy in training.

Players are fighting for starting spots in Jurgen Klopp's team and the tackles were flying in as they prepare for Sunday's clash.

Naby Keita, Dejan Lovren and Trent Alexander-Arnold were all snapped piling into a tackle as they fought for a loose ball in training.

Fortunately, Jurgen Klopp is not understood to have any fresh injury concerns ahead of their latest big fixture.

4) Salah refreshed ready to make an impact

Egyptian ace Mohamed Salah has come in for some criticism following his recent goal drought.

The talisman nonetheless remains a huge part of Liverpool's potent attack and they'll need him to be at his best on Sunday.

Salah did not feature for Egypt during the international break but headed away to recharge the batteries.

5) Big decisions to make

Jurgen Klopp's tactics will be key against Spurs - and he has plenty of decisions to make.

The Reds boss has plenty of options to choose from with a largely clean bill of health ahead of Sunday's Anfield showdown.

The German watched training closely as he keeps an eye on the form of his players and looks to put out the best 11 possible to come away with a vital three points at the weekend.
