Liverpool told two ways they can beat Manchester City to Premier League glory

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville have identified two ways they believe Jurgen Klopp’s side can win the Premier League.

The Reds have entered the business end of their assault for the title but face a fierce fight with a Manchester City side who have matched them stride for stride this season, as they seek to become the first side to retain their league crown in a decade.

There are just a handful of games remaining this season and plenty to play for, with City perceived by many to have an advantage due to the fact they have a game in hand over their title rivals.

That fixture will be played on April 24 against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Carragher believes Liverpool must take advantage of that clash by piling the pressure upon Pep Guardiola’s side in the weeks ahead.

Man City supercomputer prediction gives Liverpool title hope

“What Liverpool have to do in this title race is they have to force Man City to win at Old Trafford. That is a big ask for any team in world football, it’s not easy,” he told Sky Sports.

“Yes, Man City are a quality side and they have won there in the last few years but in this title race, Liverpool have to force them to do that.”

Former United defender Neville sees things slightly differently though, as he expects both sides to slip in stages during the final weeks of the season and has told Liverpool what results they need to end their 29-year wait for league glory.

“I think City and Liverpool will both drop points. If Liverpool won five games and drew one game, I think that will be enough to win the title. I don’t think either team will be perfect on the way in, I don’t think they should panic.”
