Liverpool told two players will cost them title as Philippe Coutinho hits out

Your morning digest for Wednesday, November 10.

Coutinho hits out at 'lazy' claims

Former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has defended himself and his professionalism following allegations he refused to come on for Barcelona last weekend.

Some reports after the final whistle claimed that Coutinho had refused to come on, while it was suggested elsewhere that interim Barcelona coach Sergi Barjuan was left unimpressed by his attitude when warming up.

Further reports in Spain have claimed that some of Coutinho's team-mates have previously approached him training regarding concerns over his conduct and attitude.

But away on international duty with Brazil, the former Liverpool man has rubbished any suggestions that he has been unprofessional at Camp Nou.

Liverpool told two players will cost them Premier League title

Tony Cascarino believes the absence of Georginio Wijnaldum is costing Liverpool this season as neither Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Thiago Alcantara are good enough to replace him.

The Dutchman ended his five-year stay at Anfield in the summer after the expiration of his contract, which he signed in 2016 after arriving from Newcastle.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago Alcantara have both regularly featured in place of Wijnaldum this season as have Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Naby Keita.

But Cascarino believes neither Oxlade-Chamberlain or Thiago boast the same kind of skillset as Wijnaldum.
