Liverpool told to sign Tottenham, Chelsea and Man United transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly

Former Liverpool defender Phil Babb has called on Jurgen Klopp to make a January move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Reds are the runaway leaders in the Premier League and are on track to match the record of Arsenal's invincibles team of 2003/04, having dropped only two points so far this season.

Liverpool have already added Takumi Minamino to their squad during the transfer window, but Babb would like to see one more player arrive at Anfield.

“As a fan and a broadcaster I wonder where Klopp can improve the squad and I’d probably say they might want to look at bringing in another top, top centre-half," he told Gambling.com.

Mourinho praises Eriksen's professionalism amid transfer rumours

“That’s only because of the injury records of Gomez, Matip and Dejan Lovren. Virgil van Dijk is like a thoroughbred horse, very rarely gets injured, and if he could have another world class centre-half constantly alongside side him that would bolster Liverpool.

“Can you imagine Virgil van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly together? That would be some centre-half partnership.”

Both Tottenham and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the defender, with reports suggesting that both clubs have been in contact with the player's representatives.

Manchester United and Everton have also been linked with a January move for the Senegal international.
