Liverpool told to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as former Red pinpoints what Jurgen Klopp is missing

Liverpool have been told to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid - by ex-Reds defender Dominic Matteo.

And the former Academy product believes that the Welshman demonstrated exactly what Jurgen Klopp's side are missing when he scored twice in the Champions League final last May.

Bale broke Liverpool hearts when he came off the bench to net an outstanding overhead kick before wrapping up the win with a long-range shot that beat Loris Karius as Real Madrid triumphed 3-1.

But rumours regarding the former Tottenham star's future have never stopped, and Matteo believes he's exactly that type of player Klopp needs.

Asked if Liverpool would be interested in Bale, he said:  “We certainly wouldn’t say no.

“Possibly. It’s a case of whether the financials could be done.

"It would be a big signing.

“If he was coming back to England, I’m sure that everyone would take him.”

Matteo added: “With Bale, when Madrid beat Liverpool in the final, he had that bit of X factor.

"Liverpool could maybe do with one more X factor player to score in the finals.

“That’s what we’ve lacked that bit of X factor to get us over the line.”
