Liverpool told that 'exposing' Arsenal man will be key to Anfield clash

Liverpool should look to "expose" David Luiz at Anfield on Saturday, according to Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas.

Former Chelsea defender Luiz made his Gunners debut in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium , but the trip to Liverpool is likely to present a far tougher task for the defender and his new club.

The Gunners have lost on each of their last three trips to Anfield, shipping 12 goals in those games and losing 5-1 there last December.

Unai Emery will hope that the addition and experience of Luiz can help plug those gaps that the Reds' feared attack often seem to find against the Gunners, but Nicholas is concerned that the presence of the experienced Brazilian could prove more of a hindrance than a help.

"The team will definitely be positive going into it, but the defensive frailties are still there and with Liverpool playing their front three, they will have pace and menace to deal with," Nicholas - who also predicted a 3-1 win for Liverpool - told Sporting Life .

"The other way to look at it, is that it will be a test to see where Arsenal are in relation to the top four. And a huge question on the day will be whether David Luiz will be exposed.

"The start is crucial, especially at Anfield, as Arsenal need to get through the first 20-25 minutes without damage. It is about getting through the first phase of the game and still being in it.

"It also depends on how Unai Emery decides to line up - he may decide to try and block it up, try and stop Liverpool playing, try to keep it compact because of the the opposition."

The pair go into the game as the last remaining sides with 100 per cent records in the Premier League this season, with kick-off at 5.30pm GMT on Saturday.
