Liverpool will play their Champions League game against FC Midtjylland at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.
It means Jurgen Klopp will return to the stadium where he spent seven years as manager.
The German has only returned once for a competitive fixture this his departure - A Europa League clash back in 2016.
But Liverpool expressed concerns at having to travel to the Danish side for their European clash due to a recent outbreak of coronavirus.
Denmark has seen cases increase due to a new strain of the virus and the Reds wanted a revised location for the game.
And their request has been met with Dortmund's 81,000 capacity stadium the venue.
No fans will be present however in accordance with UEFa regulations and current rules being observed in the German city.
A spokesperson Ruhr Nachrichten : "Dortmund has been selected as the venue for the game on December 9."
Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Anfield and will again be in need of the three points.
Group D is again looking tight following Atalanta's surprise win on Merseyside on Wednesday night.
Their 2-0 success means they and Ajax are now on seven points - two behind Liverpool who top the group.
Klopp's side host the Dutch outfit in their final group game, by which time they could already be through to the knockout stages.
But the German was not impressed with their recent showing which saw them defeated.
He told the club's website: "The opponent obviously defended well and aggressive, how they defend.
"We didn’t use the specific things of their defending – this man-marking thing – where you can move players around, open gaps and pass the ball there, like really open gaps, crazy open gaps.
"We didn’t use that tonight, we used it in Bergamo really well. Then you only face the difficulties of this kind of man-marking system.
"If you move right, if you pass in the right moment then it’s like an open door. That’s football. It’s all about decision-making and tonight the decision-making was obviously not so good.
