Liverpool to make Gini Wijnaldum decision on Club World Cup involvement following Watford injury

Liverpool will decide on Sunday morning whether Gini Wijnaldum travels for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Wijnaldum required treatment on the pitch before limping off after 59 minutes with what appeared a hamstring problem during the 2-0 Premier League win over Watford on Saturday at Anfield.

The Reds will jet out on Sunday to Qatar for two games in the Club World Cup, the first of which is the semi-final on Wednesday.

And Jurgen Klopp admits a decision will be made at the last minute over Wijnaldum's possible involvement.

Asked what the midfielder's injury was, the Reds boss responded: “Muscle, nothing else, I don’t know.

“He could probably fly to Qatar. My problem is more what exactly the injury is and I don't know that yet.

“It is a muscle thing. You never want that for a player. In this moment, it always makes it immediately more difficult.

“But it's not only us. All the other teams have the same situation and we have to deal with it, that's clear.

“We will see. Tomorrow we will know more.”

Wijnaldum last week missed the win at Bournemouth with a minor muscle problem, the only Premier League or European game in which he has not featured for Liverpool this season.

Liverpool are already without Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho for the trip to Qatar.
