Liverpool to lose 'amazing' player during summer transfer window but there are plenty of candidates to take over

Adam Lallana has been one of the players that has been central to Jurgen Klopp's tenure at Liverpool to date, scoring the late winner against Norwich City in 2016, for example, and being a key part of the squad that qualified for the Champions League, later going on to lift the trophy.

But he might not be a big part of the team for much longer.

News broke this morning that the Reds' number 20 is attracting interest from around the Premier League, and as he seeks regular game time, the ex-Southampton star is looking increasingly likely to go.

On the latest Agenda video on the Blood Red channel, reacting to the news, Connor Dunn and Kristian Walsh discussed the breaking story.

Dunn began: "It's not a massive surprise. The player wants some guaranteed game time.

"Klopp could not offer that and the world-class manager that he is, he will let him go.

"There's been some interest from Tottenham, from Arsenal as well, so serious clubs, and Premier League rivals, you could probably call them, as well."

Walsh said: "These are Champions League guaranteed next season teams, or at least ones who are chasing it.

"Lallana's never been the most popular player among fans, but these are decent teams who are looking at a player who is 31 and will command some decent wages."

Dunn added: "Every time he comes on the pitch, he's offered something different and he showcases his talent.

"I'm sure Klopp would love to keep him because what an amazing squad player he could be."

The midfielder has already won the Champions League with the Reds and will shortly become a Premier League winner, but it has always been possible that at his age, and at the stage of his career that he is at, he would want to move on.

Walsh said: "It'll be a big shame for me. He's still got a lot to offer, particularly with what Klopp's done with him this season.

"He's transformed him from what was essentially an eight to a six. He's a much more rounded midfielder.

"Whoever gets him, Liverpool will be missing out on a very versatile midfielder."

And Dunn added: "Liverpool could have easily added another year on his contract, rather than letting him go.

"He's done a lot for the club.

"I think if you go back to Nathaniel Clyne last season, he went on loan to Bournemouth and people thought that was a crazy decision.

"Again, it's Liverpool just getting things right and showing how good a club they are."

Lallana has featured in 18 matches for the Reds so far this season, but has often found himself featuring in lesser matches, such as the FA Cup third round clash with Everton, where many senior stars were handed a rest.

Curtis Jones is perhaps the leading contender to take over from Lallana's position in the squad at this stage, though there will be other options available too.

Dunn concluded: "Whether Minamino comes more to the fore, whether it's Keita, I think Liverpool probably have enough without needing to go into the transfer market again."

as they were with Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge
Liverpool are prepared, , for Lallana to stay, but at the same time, will not stand in his way should he decide to leave, which appears to be the case.
