Liverpool to face Preston North End in Carabao Cup fourth round

Liverpool have been drawn against Preston North End in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The Reds will face Frankie McAvoy's side at Deepdale next month after the two were paired together by Harry Redknapp and Micah Richards on Wednesday night.

The EFL have already confirmed that the next round of the competition is scheduled to take place week commencing Monday, October 25.

A Takumi Minamino brace and solitary Divock Origi strike helped Jurgen Klopp's side to a routine victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in the third round on Tuesday night.

While Preston booked their place in the fourth round after beating Cheltenham Town 4-1 at Deepdale on the same night the Reds overcame the Canaries.

This season’s winners will automatically guarantee a spot in the 2022/23 UEFA Conference League.

While if Liverpool are successful in lifting the cup this season they will become the most successful club in the competition's history.

The Reds currently hold the record jointly with Manchester City, with both sides having won the competition on eight occasions.

Liverpool supporters attending the match will be housed in Deepdale's Bill Shankly Kop, which was named after the Anfield icon who was also a North End great in his playing days, helping them win the FA Cup in 1938.

Draw in full: Chelsea v Southampton, Arsenal v Leeds, Stoke v Brentford, West Ham v Man City, Leicester v Brighton, Burnley v Tottenham, QPR v Sunderland and Preston v Liverpool.
