Liverpool to bask in sunshine and 28 degrees before huge change

Those who like the warmer weather have today and tomorrow (Thursday) to make the most of it before a change occurs at the start of the weekend.

Appropriately for the meteorological start of summer, it will be sunny and very warm today (Wednesday), with a maximum temperature of 26C forecast. The Met Office says there will be lengthy periods of strong sunshine, and it will be feeling very warm in generally light winds.

It will remain fine and warm into this evening and will stay dry overnight with largely clear skies. Temperatures will only slowly fall away and it will still feel quite warm in urban areas.

Tomorrow (Thursday) will be another generally dry and sunny day across the region. It will be very warm and feeling locally hot inland, with a maximum temperature of around 28C.

However by Friday, the Met Office forecasts it will be turning cooler and cloudier, with showers then more persistent rain arriving later in the day. Sunshine and heavy showers are forecast over the weekend, possibly thundery in places.
