Liverpool could have the Premier League title wrapped up in June as details of an apparent new Premier League season schedule emerged tonight.
A piece in the Telegraph reports that a "tentative" plan will see matches resume again after June 1st with action taking place behind closed doors.
The revamped vision could see the campaign finished within six weeks of that date - allowing for the 2020/21 season to begin around August 8th.
The Telegraph claims this would then head off "financial catastrophe for clubs carrying huge wage bills".
The article indicates that the June 1st recommencement remains merely a target at this stage.
But the recent decision from UEFA to postpone Euro 2020 until next summer would seemingly allow for the Premier League to be completed in the weeks being outlined.
As well as games taking place in empty stadiums, the Telegraph suggests "the presence of emergency crews within the ground" would need to be sanctioned by the Government.
Last week, the Premier League joined with other football authorities in the UK to extend the suspension of fixtures until April 30th at the very earliest.
However, an agreement was also made to ensure the Premier League campaign is "extended indefinitely".
That proviso appears to have handed Liverpool the chance to become champions, with the Reds needing just two more wins to guarantee the title.
