Liverpool title race boost with Mohamed Salah to be left out of Egypt squad

Liverpool will not be left fretting over the possibility of Mohamed Salah being injured on international duty next month, with the forward set to be omitted from the Egypt squad.

The Pharaohs will face the Niger Republic in their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on March 21 knowing that their place in next summer's tournament is already guaranteed.

That fixture will be followed by a friendly meeting with Nigeria on March 25 but Salah will not participate in either, according to Egyptian FA chief Ahmed Shobier.

Speaking to KingFut, the EFA vice-president said: “Mohamed Salah will not play the Niger game in the AFCON qualifiers or the Nigeria friendly.

“Ahmed Hegazi will probably also be left out of the squad."

The Reds are scheduled to face Tottenham at Anfield on March 31 - a game that could go a long way to deciding the destination of the Premier League title.

And Jurgen Klopp will be able to call on a fully fresh Salah for that test should he be left out of international duty as planned.
