Liverpool tipped to sign Real Madrid's Gareth Bale as legend explains how it would work

Liverpool have been backed to save Gareth Bale from his Real Madrid nightmare.

Former Reds player Mark Lawrenson says the Welshman would be perfect for the Anfield side, and tipped boss Jurgen Klopp to get the best out of him.

Bale's current situation in the Spanish capital is unsustainable, with relations between the 30-year-old and manager Zinedine Zidane at breaking point.

A move to Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning fell through at the final hurdle, with Real pulling the plug over the terms of the deal.

It leaves Bale in limbo - but Lawrenson reckons Liverpool would suit him and explained how his signing would work in terms of the Reds' formidable front-three options.

Klopp has Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane as his attacking trio - arguably the best combination in the Premier League.

"I think Klopp could get the best out of him,” he said of Bale.

“The only problem is would he fit into that front three but you could even play him on the left of the three in midfield and let him bomb on.

“He’s such a good player and such a talent. He just needs to be loved and Klopp would be the perfect fit to do that.

“People say he’s got injury problems and all that but Klopp would get him mega fit.”

Klopp is in the market for a wide attacking player before the transfer window closes, which could spell the end of Wales youngster Harry Wilson's time at the club.  He has been linked with Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Bournemouth in recent weeks.

A Liverpool move for Bale, though, would seem difficult given his astronomical wages in Madrid, with his agent categorically stating he would not be leaving the Bernabeu on loan this summer.
