Liverpool tipped to complete transfer for Diogo Jota reunion to end hopes of Arsenal deal

Liverpool have put a bad run of form behind them to put back-to-back wins together.

Questions were asked of the champions' calibre in defending their Premier League crown this season, after they went on a barren run of five Premier League games without a win - scoring just once in those games.

But victories over Tottenham and West Ham - both away from home - have stopped the talk as the Reds moved back to within four points of leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp still has issues in defence, though, with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk on the long-term injured list.

And the German has confirmed the Reds are looking at ways of solving their issue in the transfer market before the window shuts at 11pm on Monday.

He said: "I don't know, but we will try.

"It would be funny if people thought Liverpool are just fine with the situation and don't care or don't try.

"We try, but there's nothing to say until something happens. We will see.

"The situation yesterday didn't make it easier but we still try do the right things. If that's possible then we will do it, if not then not."

One name linked with a shock move to Anfield has been Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, who is out of contract at the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal are keen to offload him, with the veteran defender likely to have his squad place taken by Martin Odegaard for the second half of the season.

However, Liverpool could instead move for someone different and a player who would be reunited with Diogo Jota were he to sign for the Reds.

Romain Saiss has made 17 appearances for Wolves so far this season and can play in defence or midfield - like many of the Liverpool players currently at Anfield.

And, according to Sky Bet, Liverpool are the 9/4 favourites to sign him on transfer deadline day, with the Wolves man the most likely signing for Liverpool today.
