Liverpool tipped to be Man City's closest challengers after international break refresh

Liverpool have been tipped to still be Manchester City's biggest challengers in the Premier League title race and could return "refreshed" after the international break.

The Reds are now without a game until Saturday, October 1 when they host Brighton after their game with Chelsea on Sunday was called off due to Queen's funeral taking place in London on Monday.

No one would have predicted the start to the season Jurgen Klopp 's side have made with points being dropped in five of their eight Premier League games, but former Ireland international Stephen Ward believes Liverpool may be a different side after the break.

Ward has tipped Liverpool to get back on track following a shaky start and push City once again for the Premier League title. He told Off The Ball : "I feel like now with games being cancelled and the international break coming up, it wouldn’t surprise me not to see the Liverpool players playing that many minutes in the upcoming games, just to give them a little bit of a reset and freshness coming back.

"For me you’ll see a different Liverpool when the international break is over. I still feel that they will be the closest ones to Man City if they get back on form."
