Liverpool thunderstorms and hail as unsettled weather continues

Unsettled weather is set to continue across Merseyside and it will be that way for a number of days.

The Met Office predicts that there will be a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers today, on Thursday, June 30. That trend will carry on until the weekend, with temperatures staying between 17C and 20C.

Forecasters say that the risk of thunderstorms and hail is also high, as warm weather mixes with wet conditions. It will be pleasant during the outbreaks of sun, however, showers will be frequent.

It will remain unsettled through the weekend with sunshine and showers. Pleasant in any sunshine but cool in and around showers. Rain becoming lighter and less frequent Monday, say the Met Office.

BBC weather forecaster Chris Fawkes said: "Taking a look at the charts into Thursday, we’ve got some cloud which is coming up from north west France that is going to bring some rain to eastern Scotland to start the day.

"This is the jet stream pattern, we’ve got a trough that is moving slowly eastwards across the UK - this encourages the air to rise and so the day’s showers on Thursday are going to be much more heavy in nature with hail and thunder, much more widespread as well."
