Liverpool threat giving Manchester United 'blood in their eyes' as Man City comparison made

Liverpool have been told Manchester United have 'blood in their eyes' when the two bitter North West rivals meet.

The Reds are now the dominant force in England having added the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to the European Cup they won last season while standing a record 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's side need only two more wins from their remaining nine games to secure the club's first title since 1990 and move within one of United's record tally of 20.

United, without a championship in seven years, are in fifth place and stand a mammoth 37 points adrift of Liverpool.

But Old Trafford midfielder Fred believes the meeting with the world champions remains the biggest game of the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

Speaking of the Manchester derby, he said: “It’s a regional classic that is very strong, you know. Which is the classic of the city.

“So really when you have a game against City, you really have blood in your eyes.

“Of course, against Liverpool it’s even bigger, you have more blood in your eyes, because there’s the whole history that involves everything, the history of the two teams is huge in world football."

Fred, talking to Esporte Interativo, added: “But against City it’s also a great game and our city classic. You have to show who rules the city.”
