Liverpool line-up vs Shrewsbury as Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones help create history

Curtis Jones will become the youngest captain in Liverpool’s history this evening.

Jones, who turned 19 last Thursday, will lead the Reds for their FA Cup fourth round replay against League One side Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.

Under-23s boss Neil Critchley, deputising in the dugout for the absent Jurgen Klopp, has handed a debut to three players with all of Liverpool’s senior squad on a winter break.

Adam Lewis, who recently returned from a long-term knee injury, will start at left-back, while Jake Cain has been given a place in midfield and Canada international Liam Millar leads the attack.

Sepp van den Berg and Ki-Jana Hoever are the centre-backs, with Morgan Boyes on the bench.

Cain is joined in midfield by Pedro Chirivella and Leighton Clarkson, the latter making his first senior start.

Up front, Jones is on the left, Millar down the centre and Harvey Elliott on the right.

With an average age of 19 years and 102 days, this is the youngest starting line-up in Liverpool's history.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Kelleher; Williams, Hoever, van den Berg, Lewis; Chirivella, Clarkson, Cain; Elliott, Millar, Jones. Subs: Jaros, Hardy, Gallacher, Dixon-Bonner, Boyes, Bearne, Norris.
