Liverpool team news as Takumi Minamino one of four changes for Champions League clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made four changes to the side that hosts FC Midtjylland in the Champions League this evening.

The Reds boss retains his attacking 4-2-3-1 formation for the game against the Danish outfit in Group B, but has rested Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

In their place come Takumi Minamino, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi as Klopp uses the full range of his attacking options at Anfield.

Diogo Jota, who nodded in the winning goal of the 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday, keeps his place, however, as Klopp utilises a versatile front four.

James Milner is the other change as he comes into the side to partner captain Jordan Henderson in a midfield two.

Liverpool's back five remains unchanged with Alisson Becker starting once more behind Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Andy Robertson.

On the substitutes' bench, there are places for both Rhys and Neco Williams alongside Jake Cain and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The more established stars are Gini Wijnaldum, Salah, Mane, Firmino and Curtis Jones, who drops to the bench after his Champions League debut at Ajax last week.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Gomez, Robertson; Milner, Henderson; Shaqiri, Minamino, Jota; Origi.

Subs: Adrian, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Jones, R Williams, Cain, N Williams, Kelleher.
