Liverpool team confirmed for Aston Villa as Reds name youngest ever side

Rhian Brewster misses out through injury as the youngest Liverpool team in the club's 127-year history takes on Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

Manager Neil Critchley, who will fill in for Jurgen Klopp at Villa Park, has named Harvey Elliott, Tom Hill and Luis Longstaff as his front three.

Caoimhin Kelleher starts in goal behind a back four of Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, Morgan Boyes and Tony Gallacher.

Boyes and Gallacher have yet to feature in the Carabao Cup this term and are making their professional senior debuts.

The most experienced Liverpool player this evening is Pedro Chirivella, who made five of his seven senior appearances for the Reds in 2015/16.

Alongside the Spaniard in midfield is Herbie Kane and Isaac Christie-Davies, with the average age of tonight's Liverpool team coming in at just 19 years, six months and three days.

Liverpool: Kelleher; Hoever, Van den Berg, Boyes, Gallacher; Chirivella, Kane, Christie-Davies; Elliott, Hill, Longstaff.

Subs: Winterbottom, Clayton, Norris, Clarkson, Bearne, Dixon-Bonner, Stewart.
