Liverpool take steps to keep community programmes on track during coronavirus outbreak

Liverpool have taken steps to keep their local community programmes on track during the coronavirus outbreak.

With the latest government advice warning against all non-essential contact, the Merseyside club has been forced to postpone sessions usually delivered by the LFC Foundation and their Red Neighbours initiative.;

However, they are aiming to continue engaging with the most vulnerable members of society despite these measures being enforced.

Red Neighbours will begin delivering online chair-based yoga sessions for over-50s following the postponement.

Meanwhile, the LFC Foundation will provide free physical activity and mindfulness resources to be accessed online.

A new initiative called LFC Connect is also set to be launched, and will see staff from LFC, Red Neighbours, and the Foundation contacting vulnerable people living in isolation during the crisis to offer support.

The activities available to local residents will be rounded up in a special edition of the Red Neighbours newsletter.

Staff will also assist the North Liverpool Foodbank in making collections and deliveries across the community, following on from a £40,000 donation made in the name of the Foundation and the first-team squad on Friday.
