Klopp's tactical tweak that isn't working

With Liverpool a goal down at the King Power stadium and only 20 minutes of the match remaining, Jurgen Klopp made his third and final substitution.

Jordan Henderson was replaced by Roberto Firmino and to accommodate this change, Liverpool went from their tried-and-trusted 4-3-3 formation into a 4-2-3-1.

This was particularly noteworthy for two reasons. Firstly, Klopp had substituted his entire starting midfield, something which must be an incredibly rare occurrence.

But secondly, the quartet of Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were on the pitch together and as has happened far too often in such instances, the Reds failed to win.

Man United set to follow FSG's stadium plan

Since the Glazer family have been owners of Manchester United their famous Old Trafford home has barely seen as much as a lick of paint.

While their rivals moved to state-of-the art stadiums and spend hundreds of millions redeveloping their own homes, United’s owners allowed for the decay of their stadium to happen on their watch.

It’s 16 years since the Glazers took full control of United, while it has been 11 since Fenway Sports Group acquired Liverpool. And while United invested in a rather slapdash approach in the transfer market, Liverpool spent money on infrastructure and whilst they have been less inclined to spend the kind of money that the Glazers have in the market, they’ve achieved far more success.

However, in the wake of the European Super League debacle of which both clubs were agitators, United are attempting to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool.

A report by the Daily Mail suggests that United are ready to invest in improvements at both Old Trafford and their Carrington training complex, with the capacity of the former set to rise above 80,000 aiding match day revenues further.
