Liverpool supporters handed Fabinho injury update as Pep Guardiola questions transfer spend

By Kadeem Simmonds

Here is your Liverpool digest on Thursday, 11 May.

Positive Fabinho injury update

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday to move level on points with Premier League leaders Man City, but at a cost.

Midfielder Fabinho was taken off with a muscle injury in the first-half, immediately making him a doubt to be fit for the FA Cup final against Chelsea this weekend at Wembley Stadium. Jurgen Klopp did offer some positive news after the final whistle when he said the Brazilian midfielder felt positive following the injury.

Guardiola attacks Liverpool's historic spending

Man City have no issues when it comes to spending money in the transfer window.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, who took over in 2016, the club have spent close to £1billion and are likely to top that figure when they confirm the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland for £51m. The money spent has seen the club lift multiple domestic trophies though they are yet to clinch the Champions League having lost in the final to Chelsea last season.

And Guardiola has defended his side's spending, taking a shot at the money spent by Liverpool in 70s and 80s in the process.
