Liverpool supporters aren't being fooled by Nicolas Pepe transfer hoax

There is a picture of rumoured transfer target Nicolas Pepe circulating on social media, but Liverpool fans aren't falling for it.

The fake image appears to show the Lille frontman being interviewed having 'signed' for the Reds.

But fans have quickly denounced the mocked-up picture which has clearly been edited.

The 'leaked' screen-shot is a hoax designed to dupe supporters into thinking the 24-year-old is now a Liverpool player.

But the edited picture has been taken from Naby Keita's first exclusive interview which was conducted by LFCTV last summer.

Fans swarmed to rubbish the YouTube screen-grab of the Ivory Coast international.

Under the image the subtitles read: "I chose Liverpool because it's a team I watched often."

Which is precisely what the Guinea midfielder said during his first interview.

One wise supporter wrote: "It's fake. Naby Keita said the exact same sentence in his signing day vlog."

While another said: "Who was falling for it he [Pepe] hasn't had that haircut for about 2 years."

reports

But as reported at the time the ECHO understood such claims to be false with Jurgen Klopp not looking to spend massive amounts this summer following last season's spending spree.

According to last month Liverpool were being linked with a move for Lille's Player of the Season who scored 22 goals in Ligue 1.
