Liverpool suffer Ozan Kabak injury blow as Ben Davies absence explained

Ozan Kabak has handed Jurgen Klopp another centre-back injury headache - as the Liverpool boss explained the ongoing absence of Ben Davies.

Kabak is a major doubt for Sunday's Premier League clash at home to Fulham after picking up a "little problem" during Thursday's 1-0 Anfield defeat to Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has started Liverpool's last five games - alongside three different defensive partners - having arrived on deadline day last month on loan until the end of the season from Bundesliga side Schalke.

But Kabak is now set to join Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson on the sidelines.

"Ozan after the game had a little problem," said Reds boss Klopp on Friday. "He has played now a lot of games and we will see whether he is ready for Fulham.

"It doesn't look like it at the moment. We will have to find solutions."

There was some positive injury news for Liverpool with Nat Phillips expected to be available this weekend after missing out against Chelsea with a minor problem.

And Klopp has also confirmed Ben Davies - who signed from Championship side Preston North End on deadline day - could also come into contention while outlining why the 25-year-old has yet to feature for his new club.

"Nat I think will be ready, Ben as well," said Klopp.

"For Ben, it's not easy. In our situation, we brought him in and he has to adapt, all these kind of things.

"He is a really good player, but we just have to try to make sure that the people who play with each other... if you bring one new player and then a second new player, it changes everything. We have to see.

"The game could come too quick for Ozan but Nat should be ready and Ben anyway."

Fabinho returned after a month on the sidelines to partner Kabak at centre-back on Thursday.

And asked about the possibility of using the Brazilian in his preferred central midfield role, Klopp added: "It would be great.

"We had a problem with Nat Phillips, who has played together with Ozan, and he couldn't play, so we had to make a decision.

"Do we take an inexperienced pairing on to the pitch or do we take Fab? We decided on Fab."
