Liverpool suffer double midfield blow ahead of Tottenham fixture

Liverpool will be without two of their key midfielders for their clash with Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

It has been confirmed that both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara will miss the trip to North London.

As reported by Ian Doyle from the Liverpool ECHO: “Thiago has a suspected positive coronavirus test, Henderson is ill but has tested negative for coronavirus.”

There were fears that the game would be called off due to the rising number of positive COVID-19 tests in the Liverpool squad, with defender Virgil Van Dijk, and midfielders Fabinho and Curtis Jones already ruled out of the fixture of testing positive during the week.

This has left Jurgen Klopp’s side without a number of key players during the hectic winter period and will no doubt hand Spurs a significant advantage.

Spurs have had to postpone their last three games due to a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp, but look all set for the 4:30pm kick-off today.
