Liverpool have registered an offer to sign teenage goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga from Fluminese.
The ECHO understands that a proposal was recently submitted for the 17-year-old and is likely to be accepted by the Brazilian club.
Fluminese see great potential in the young shot-stopper and a decision over any deal is set to be made by their board after Liverpool made their interest known early in his development.
Pitaluga is training with the first-team and finiancial details over the deal have not been revealed but reports in Brazil suggest a deal has been accelerated by the financial crisis following the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has been subject to interest from several clubs and is currently is the fourth goalkeeper option for Fluminese coach Odair Hellmann with his age and lack of experience being a factor in that regard.
He also is said to hold a German passport, which makes any deal easier to complete with conditions over work permits not coming into play.
Globo Esporte say the youngster also has a 'desire to play for Liverpool' while the club have reportedly offered his family a house in England.
Liverpool are also yet to make a decision on whether to offer goalkeeper Javi Cendon a contract at Anfield.
The teenager was part of the pack who trained in Austria over much of the last two weeks, learning from the guidance of the likes of Alisson Becker and Adrian at their Saalfelden-based camp.
Liverpool were alerted to the talents of the 19-year-old earlier this year and took him on trial after Cendon left Villarreal on a free transfer.
Goalkeeper coaches John Actherberg and Jack Robinson ran the rule over the Spaniard in Austria but have yet to make a decision following their return to Merseyside earlier this week.
The ECHO understands the Reds' coaching staff will continue to assess the talents of Cendon at Melwood before a decision is made on whether or not to offer the goalkeeper a permanent contract.
Liverpool are looking at a number of up-and-coming goalkeepers following the decision to release Daniel Atherton, Shamal George and Kai McKenzie-Lyle last month.
