Liverpool-style slow build can work for Airdrie says Diamonds boss Ian Murray

Airdrie boss Ian Murray reckons it has been a slow build to see the – just like Liverpool in the Premier League.

The made it five league wins from five as they ran riot against East Fife, with title rivals Raith coming up this weekend.

Murray believes they are working towards an ambitious project in a similar vein to Jurgen Klopp.

“I point to Liverpool who have been building a team for four or five years in England and are now starting to see the benefits.

“It’s on a different scale and they can go and buy players to build a team, but beating teams like East Fife and going top of the league shows the work that is being done. We’re ahead of schedule.”

The gaffer also called for the squad to maintain their lead over over the Stark's Park outfit this weekend as the top two clash.

He added: “It should be a good game but what we are at least looking for is to keep the gap over Raith whether that is a win or a draw.”
