Liverpool stunned Barcelona with a tricky goal to pull off Champions League comeback

Barcelona went into Tuesday’s second leg of the Champions League semifinal with a 3-0 aggregate lead on Liverpool. All they had to do was not surrender four unanswered goals at Anfield. It would have taken an epic collapse to not send Barcelona into the final at Madrid.

So what happened on Tuesday? Barcelona allowed four unanswered goals at Anfield and collapsed epically.

Sports!

Fueled by supersub Georginio Wijnaldum’s second-half surge of two goals, Liverpool drew level at 3-3. That score would have sent the match into extra time, but with Liverpool looking like a team possessed, a fourth goal seemed inevitable.

That goal came in the 79th minute, and oh, was it a goal to remember.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was taking a corner and noticed that the Barcelona players were seemingly not paying attention to the action at all.

Alexander-Arnold took the corner quickly and connected with Divock Origi for the go-ahead goal. That quick restart was tricky, and it worked to perfection.

It was absolute madness at Anfield after that goal, and Liverpool would hold on to reach the final.
