Liverpool student's faith in humanity 'restored' after receiving letter in the post

A Liverpool student was blown away after receiving an unexpected delivery following a trip to London.

Hope Reid, 19, was on a spontaneous night out with friends at a bar in Soho on Wednesday, August 4, when she realised her card holder was missing.

After searching the bar, the second year University of Liverpool student assumed it had been stolen and called it a night.

However, Hope was left shocked when she received the holder through the post on Monday, August 9, complete with all her cards and £50 cash.

The sociology student said she was left shocked by the kind gesture and is now on a mission to find the Good Samaritan.

She said: "It was completely my fault. I had a little card holder and I left it at the bar. I only realised about 15 minutes later that I didn't have it in my bag.

"Everyone helped me look for it, even the bouncers, but it wasn't anywhere so I just assumed it had been stolen.

"There was £50 in there so I thought someone would have pocketed the cash and got on with their night. I had to cancel all of my cards and one of my friend's cards was in there so it was all a bit of a stress.

"Then on Monday I opened the post and somebody had sent it back to me with all my cards and cash. There was even a single pound coin still there. It must have just been returned by someone really nice."

Hope has taken to Twitter to try and locate the kind person who returned her cards and 'restored her faith in humanity'.

The package even included a note that simply said 'wallet found in bar in London. Includes £50 cash also. Hope it didn't ruin your time here'.

The 19-year-old, originally from Sheffield, said: "It's sad but you don't expect that kind of thing to happen. Anyone could have stolen it, it's free money at the end of the day.

"My only reason for going to social media was just to try and let this person know how grateful I am.

"Even if they don’t make contact, then I hope somehow it reaches them. It would be wonderful to say thank you to them.

"I really didn't expect the tweet to get that much attention. I feel like I probably won't be able to find the person who sent it back but this kind of thing is so rare I just want to say thank you.

"I just think that what goes around comes around and it's had such a big impact on my week. I really thought that the money was gone. So I've used the money and spent it on my family to say thank you for all their support."
