Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster holds talks with Crystal Palace and Sheffield United as Swansea City now pursue replacements

Swansea City's hopes of re-signing Rhian Brewster on loan from Liverpool appear to have faded.

Premier League duo Sheffield United and Crystal Palace have both held talks with the frontman, who netted 11 times in 22 appearances for Swansea in the second half of last term.

It comes as Jurgen Klopp continues to ponder what to do with the striker this season.

The Reds have considered the option of selling the 20-year-old, although a deal would almost certainly include a buy-back clause.

That would instantly rule out Swansea whose only chance of seeing Brewster return to the Liberty Stadium would be on a loan basis.

Sources close to the player have suggested that - should Brewster depart Anfield - he would prefer a move to Palace given that he's from London.

Brewster was left out of Liverpool's squad for their 4-3 win over Leeds United on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign.

Given that their hopes of signing Brewster on loan again appear to be diminishing, Swansea are continuing to pursue other targets.

Brighton frontman Viktor Gyokeres is a man Swansea are hopeful of seeing move to South Wales on loan.

The Swedish forward was not included in the Seagulls' squad for their 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night, although it's been suggested he could feature for Graham Potter's men in their Carabao Cup clash with Portsmouth on Thursday.

Former Swansea boss Potter recently stated that he wants to cast his eye over the 22-year-old before making a decision on where his future lies.

"We want to take a real look at him and his qualities before we make any decisions on his next step. He is one we are really interested in," said Potter.

But should Brighton decide to send Gyokeres out on loan, Swansea feel they would get their man.

Elsewhere, it appears unlikely that Swansea will make a move for Samuel Grandsir.

The Swans have shown an interest in the Monaco winger this summer, and it's understood the French outfit are keen to offload the 24-year-old.

But as things stand, the finances involved have ensured a deal is off the cards, meaning the numbers behind a potential deal would have to change for Grandsir to re-emerge as a viable transfer option.

The summer transfer window closes at 11pm on October 5.

There will be an additional domestic window that then runs until 5pm on October 16.
