Crystal Palace and Burnley are interested in moving for Danny Ings following the Liverpool striker’s decision to leave Anfield.
Ings arrived on Merseyside from Burnley in the summer of 2015 but his opportunities were limited by two major long-term injuries.
The 25-year-old now wants first-team football and, despite having two years to run on his current Anfield contract, he has reluctantly decided to leave Liverpool in order to play regularly elsewhere.
Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, is understood to have been reluctant to allow Ings to leave but the striker will depart with the best wishes of the club behind him.
Ings’ availability has alerted Palace, who spent the tailend of last season playing Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend up front despite neither being a recognised, out-and-out striker.
Burnley could also move for Ings, who scored 43 goals in 130 appearances for the east Lancashire club during a four-year spell between 2011 and 2015.
Ings will hope that regular playing time helps him to regain a place in England set-up, having made his international debut in October 2015 under then-manager Roy Hodgson.
Later that same month, the Worcester-born striker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his first training session under the newly-appointed Klopp.
After a 13-month layoff, he returned to action in an EFL Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2016 but suffered knee cartilage damage, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
