Liverpool striker could be handed new opportunity alongside two other first-team stars

Layton Stewart is making up for lost time. Having missed more than a year of his development at Liverpool through injury, the 20-year-old is enjoying his return to action this season.

Stewart continued his impressive form by notching the only goal for the under-21s at the weekend as they extended their unbeaten Premier League 2 run to five games with a 1-0 triumph at Leicester City.

“It was a really good goal actually,” says U21s boss Barry Lewtas. “Played forward, he ran in behind and took it really well on his left side. He deserved that as well, he’s in good form at the moment."

Liverpool handed major injury boost as Jordan Henderson England decision made

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been added to England's squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Italy and Germany, despite missing the Reds' last three matches through injury.

Henderson, 32, suffered a hamstring injury midway through the second-half of the 2-1 win over Newcastle United in August and subsequently missed the fixtures against Everton, Napoli and Ajax for Jurgen Klopp 's side.

However, it has now been confirmed that Henderson joined up with the Three Lions squad at their St George's Park training base on Monday evening after passing a number of fitness tests, just days after Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips withdrew from the squad due to an ongoing shoulder problem.
