Liverpool starting line up for Man City as Jurgen Klopp goes strong

Jurgen Klopp has named an unchanged team for Liverpool’s first game as Premier League champions.

The Reds play their first match since clinching their 19 title last week when they take on deposed champions Manchester City at the Etihad this evening.

It means Klopp has kept faith with the midfield of skipper Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum that helped dispose of Crystal Palace 4-0 at Anfield eight days ago.

Alisson Becker will aim for a clean sheet to strengthen his chances of retaining the Premier League Golden Gloves award, playing behind a defence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Up front, the usual triumvirate of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all start.

While Joel Matip is likely out for the remainder of the season, James Milner is on the bench after recovering from the hamstring problem that forced him to miss out against Palace.

Youngsters Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams are again on the bench, but Dejan Lovren is absent.

For City, Eric Garcia has recovered from a head injury and will line up at centre-back.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Williams, Milner, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Elliott, Minamino, Origi.

MAN CITY: Ederson, Walker, Garcia, Laporte, Mendy, Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Foden, Jesus, Sterling.

Subs: Bravo, Stones, Zinchenko, Bernardo, D.Silva, Mahrez, Cancelo, Otamendi, Doyle.
