Liverpool starting line up against Chelsea as Thiago could make debut

Fabinho will start for Liverpool at centre-back as they are hosted by Chelsea in the Premier League today.

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip miss out all together, leaving manager Jurgen Klopp with just one fit centre-back in the form Virgil van Dijk.

Brazil midfielder Fabinho is the one change from last week's 4-3 win against Leeds United as he steps into an unfamiliar role alongside Van Dijk at the back.

Meanwhile, new signing Thiago Alcantara is only named among the substitutes' bench following confirmation of his move from Bayern Munich on Friday afternoon.

It means Liverpool's midfield three remains Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita with the usual trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino up top.

Alisson Becker retains his place in goal with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the left and right side of the defence, respectively.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Adrian, Milner, Jones, Minamino, Thiago, Tsimikas, Origi.

Chelsea: Kepa, James, Zouma, Christensen, Alonso, Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic, Mount, Havertz, Werner.

Subs: Caballero, Tomori, Azpilicueta, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham, Giroud.
