Liverpool stars send message to Arsenal, Spurs and Man City after victory at Chelsea

It has been a superb start to the new season for Liverpool, but two of their stars insist that the Reds are not looking at the table just yet.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds sit top of the Premier League after winning their first six matches of the new season, with a 2-1 victory at Chelsea yesterday (Sunday) restoring their five-point lead at the summit, after Manchester City's 8-0 win against Watford on Saturday.

But while excitement is building among Liverpool supporters as the Reds look to try and end their wait for a first Premier League title, defenders Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk both said the players are not getting carried away.

Robertson told Sky Sports: "We're not looking at the table just yet. There's still a long, long way to go.

"Don't get me wrong, it is lovely to be five points clear, but there's going to be twists and turns I'm sure this season, like there was last season.

"We have got off to a good start, but it is about keeping that going and keeping the momentum, and if we can keep winning our games, that is all that matters.

"But we won't quite look at the table until it gets interesting."

Meanwhile, former Southampton defender van Dijk echoed his team-mate's opinion, adding that Liverpool are focusing on themselves and not what others are saying or doing.

That is despite Liverpool sitting five points clear of City, seven clear of Leicester City, Arsenal and West Ham and ten points clear of three teams that finished in the top six last season, in Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea.

"We're not looking at the others at the moment," he said.

"The season is still so long and for us, the task is just to try and keep winning games and try and get good results and improve our game.

"It is tough to come here [to Chelsea] and get a result, and I'm very glad that we did it."
