Liverpool stars Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane light up friendly between Brazil and Senegal

Liverpool and Everton might not be in action this week but stars from both clubs have still taken the field today.

Brazil faced off against Senegal in an international friendly this afternoon, with Roberto Firmino leading the line, Fabinho on the bench and Everton's Richarlison also on the sidelines to start.

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho started for Brazil, while Sadio Mane started for Senegal. Former Everton man Idrissa Gueye was also in the Senegal starting XI.

Firmino was naturally front and centre of all the action in the match and he got the ball rolling by opening the scoring at the Singapore National Stadium.

Brazil enjoyed the better of the possession in the early stages before Firmino provided an adept finish.

Man City's Gabriel Jesus provided the assist before Firmino dinked the ball past Senegal goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo with a clever first-time strike.

Coutinho had a chance to make it 2-0 to Brazil but a poor touch led to him being dispossessed in a promising position.

Senegal turned screw as Gueye fired narrowly over the bar, before Ederson denied Mane's powerful shot.

Mane won a penalty for Senegal before the break as he was pulled back by Marquinhos shortly after beating Dani Alves.

Famara Diedhiou converted the spot-kick for the equaliser.

Neymar was not happy with the penalty and Gueye, Coutinho and Firmino were all involved in an argument with the referee as the teams walked off at half time.

The second half was a quieter affair as Coutinho shot over the bar and Firmino was substituted on the hour mark.

Everton's Richarlison replaced Coutinho in the final 20 minutes before Brazil had a 90th minute chance to secure a victory.

They were awarded a free-kick just outside the box, only for Neymar's tame shot to be easily saved.
