Liverpool starlet Pedro Chirivella’s loan stay at Extremadura could be cut short

The future of Pedro Chirivella’s loan stint with Extremadura has been cast into doubt as a result of a dispute with the Spanish football authorities.

The Liverpool midfielder joined the Segunda Division club on a temporary deal running until the end of the season on the final day of the January transfer window.

However, he has yet to play since returning to his homeland and will be forced to wait even longer on his debut due to administrative problems.

Standard Sport understands that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have highlighted an issue with Chirivella’s registration with Extremadura.

And, according to reports in Spain, the 21-year-old’s loan club will need to appeal to a tribunal in order to earn clearance to play him.

Liverpool officials are comfortable that their end of the agreement will stand up to scrutiny, having followed protocol in registering the player’s loan through FIFA’s TMS and with the FA.

They also remain confident that a resolution allowing Chirivella to feature for Extremadura this term will be found.

If not, however, the former Valencia starlet will be forced to return to Anfield before likely seeking another move in the summer.
