Liverpool starlet makes position claim that could surprise Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever has told supporters he prefers to play right-back over centre-back.

The 18-year-old, signed from Ajax in 2018, was taking part in an Instagram question and answer session during the coronavirus lockdown on his official page.

Hoever named Lionel Messi as the best player in the world and admitted scoring his first professional Liverpool goal against Milton Keynes Dons in the Carabao Cup in September was an 'amazing' feeling.

When asked to choose between centre-back or right-back, however, he simply replied: 'RB'.

Hoever has operated in both positions during his time at Anfield but did play at the heart of the defence in the 1-0 FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield in February.

He was chosen at right-back in both first-team Carabao Cup appearances this term but has divided his time between full-back and central-defence for the under-23s.

He will find himself competing with both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams for a role at right-back next term.
