Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott set to beat Premier League record as Man City player displaced

Liverpool are on the brink of breaking numerous records this season having already confirmed their Premier League title with seven matches to play.

Previously, the quickest the title had been wrapped up was with five matches to spare.

The Reds could also become the leading points collectors. Manchester City currently hold the record for the most points having picked up 100 in 2017/18 - Liverpool could yet finish on 107.

But there is another Manchester City record that Liverpool - and specifically young winger Harvey Elliott - have in their sights.

Phil Foden became the youngest Premier League winner in 2017/18 when he collected a medal at the age of 17 years and 350 days.

But Elliott, who turned 17 in April, will comfortably beat that record should he make another three appearances for the Reds this season.

Players need to make five appearances in a season in order to qualify for a medal, and Elliott currently has two to his name having come off the bench against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace this year.

With the title already confirmed, Jurgen Klopp will be able to make changes to his team without the pressure of having to collect the three points.

The manager is also able to make extra substitutions in games thanks to new rules introduced as part of Project Restart.

Elliott, as well as fellow youngsters Curtis Jones and Neco Williams, are likely to be handed chances to impress, and for the winger, who grew up a Reds fan, that should secure him a medal.

Jones also needs three more appearances to qualify for a medal, while Williams, who made his Premier League debut on Wednesday night, needs four.

Last year, Manchester City were handed 40 medals to distribute, with the Premier League rules stating that every player who made five or more appearances must be given one.

If there are medals spare after those who qualify have received one, then the club can distribute them as they see fit, including giving them to managers, coaching staff and club officials.
