Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn names the former Arsenal star who has been a 'big help'

Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn has heaped praise on former Arsenal man Serge Gnabry following his outstanding start to the season at Bayern Munich.

Gnabry has scored six goals in all competitions in eight matches so far this season, with the 24-year-old particularly impressive in Bayern's 7-2 win over Tottenham as he bagged four goals.

It has not been an easy ride for Gnabry, who failed to break into the Arsenal side before moving to Germany three years ago.

Gnabry has since starred for Werder Bremen, Hoffenheim on loan and now Bayern, with Woodburn highlighting the German's climb to the top as clear inspiration for himself.

Woodburn, four years younger than Gnabry, is currently on loan at Oxford United and way off the Liverpool first team at the moment.

But Gnabry had an unsuccessful stint at West Brom during his early years and Woodburn knows he still has plenty of time to make his ascent.

"I feel like I have had so much experience and yet I am still young and learning. Watching someone like Serge Gnabry develop is a big help," the Wales international told the Daily Mail.

"I saw his four goals for Bayern Munich against Tottenham in the Champions League. When he was 20, he couldn't get a game on loan at West Brom.

"He has shown you can push through if you keep working hard and hopefully I can do something like he's done."
